The Challenge: Renovating Operating Coal Silos

Acme was entrusted with the challenging task of modernizing operational coal silos on a Midwest utility project. Our team had to fit and weld pre-tensioning systems onto existing silos, which were located in difficult-to-access areas suspended above multiple floors. To navigate this challenging terrain, we erected temporary scaffolding, all while ensuring minimal disruption to the facility’s regular workflow and output requirements. As a result, we took extra care to promote the highest possible levels of safety and performance.

Because of the tricky access to the points of construction, we also coordinated regularly with the worksite supervisors to ensure that our clients’ workforce was safe. Because these renovations needed to be accomplished quickly, it was vitally important that neither party interfered with the other.
