Description

550 Tons of Steel

The ambitious plan involved erecting a five-story building around the existing bank structure, achieved through the innovative use of five free span trusses over the original building. KPFF Engineering’s exceptional design was masterfully brought to life by the skilled team at Acme Erectors.

Acme Erectors, in collaboration with Steward Steel, undertook the challenging task. Meticulous planning allowed for the delivery of 100 ft. long, 12 ft. tall trusses, weighing approximately 70,000 lbs. each, to strategically designated staging areas surrounding the bank. The trusses were assembled on-site, and their installation took place on a single Saturday, causing only a four-hour closure of the bank. Customers eagerly lined the streets to witness Acme Erectors’ impressive feat.

The remaining construction process was executed with meticulous coordination between the general contractor, Acme Erectors, and the City of Washington, culminating in yet another successful project.
